Flowers on memorial squares in Berlin serve as a reminder of the Jews who were sent to extermination camps. It reminds me that life in Berlin or anywhere as an immigrant is not always safe and can turn upside down in a day. Let’s hope that the wave of populism sweeping the world every 80 years will disappear without leaving significant damage to the fabric of life.
